SECTION 16: SYSTEM START UP MENU InSpec Sampler Controller
80
SECTION 16: SYSTEM START UP MENU
When the unit is switched on for the first time or after new software has been installed the InSpec will
boot to the system start-up menu. Alternatively, this menu can be accessed by rebooting the system and holding
down the delete/reset key.
The full system starts up menu is not available until a username and associated password with
engineering level access has been successfully entered. The full system menu consists of the following options:
16.1 EXIT
Exit to the application. If the application has been newly loaded it is strongly advised that you wipe the
BBRAM and default the registers before exiting to the application.
16.2 TOGGLE WDOG
The InSpec software runs a specific watchdog task that monitors all of the other actively running tasks.
Each task has its own internal running counter. If any of these individual running counters are not incremented
automatically by the task, then the task is considered to have stalled/crashed. The task name, time and date are
logged to the rebootlog.csv file in the system folder on the SD card and the processor is forced to reboot.
This watchdog facility can be disabled by selecting the ‘toggle wdog’ option in the system menu. This is
a useful fall-back option if a system fault results in repetitive watchdog reboots.
16.3 ENABLE DEBUG
The enable debug menu allows all or individual debug flags to be turned on for independent
programmes/tasks to locate and report on a specific data variable, sequence of logic.
16.4 DEFAULT UK
This item defaults the InSpec registers to the UK standard.
16.5 DEFAULT US
This item defaults the InSpec registers to the US standard.
16.6 DEFAULT MODBUS
This item defaults the InSpec Modbus registers to their default address/register settings.
16.7 CLEAR MODBUS ADDRS
This item clears the InSpec Modbus registers by writing1 to each registers Modbus. Address field.
16.8 DEFAULT FILES
This option is selected when you wish to default the report template files for the controller.
16.9 WIPE INSTRUMENT
This item is commonly selected when setting up an InSpec for the first time. The wipe instrument option
is followed by a series of prompts asking whether you wish to keep the current users, keep the calibration
settings, the TCP settings, wipe the BBRAM, format the SD card and finally whether you want to default to UK or
US defaults.. This is the memory where all the register configuration data is stored. After selecting which, you will
see the default process initiated on the front panel display. On completion, the InSpec will reboot and the
application will start.
