2.10.5 LOG SETUP
The Log is a shared application feature that enables up to 20 data variables to be printed out
consecutively in a running log. There are two options within the log menu:
Period: This set the interval for each log print out. The interval period for a sampling
application can be set to either ‘On Grab’ where n amount of grabs have to pass between each
log printout, or ‘On Secs’, where n seconds have to pass before a log line is printed out. In the
Blender application the only format is the time based ‘On Secs’.
Format: The format option allows each of the items for the display to be configured.
You are prompted for which item you wish to configure, following by whether or not you want
the item to be printed and stored as a text file, weather you wish the log item to be stored in the
log CSV file. Next, you are asked for the log items source register, the text width of the log
items and, if appropriate, the required number of decimal places. Lastly you are prompted to
enter a title for the given log field, where the log titles are limited to the previously configured
item width.
2.11 SOFTWARE DESCRIPTION
2.11.1 OPERATING SYSTEM
The unit uses Keil’s RTX operating system. The operating system will usually remain invisible
to the user, as the unit will be supplied fully configured for your application and will automatically start
when switched on. If any major changes are required to the system during its lifetime then there is the
facility to connect a terminal to a debug port (Serial Port 1/Console) to gain access to the operating
system shell. This port is an RS232 serial link and has default settings of 9600 baud, 8 bits, 1 stop bit
and no parity. WARNING, using this facility can seriously damage the configuration of the instrument
and should only be used under the guidance of experienced Jiskoot Engineers.
2.11.2 FILES
The file system for the InSpec stores and retrieves data from the supplied SD card. This is a
standard off the shelf SD or SDHC card and could be replaced with a similar card from a local supplier.
The InSpec supports both the SD format (up to 2Gb. Formatted to FAT16 or FAT32). If a replacement is
required locally, the preference is to use the SD format.
Data for application batches are stored on the SD card in the following date format:
YEAR/MONTH/DAY/BATCH. E.g., 2010/06/14/BATCH2_0.1
The folder BATCH2_0.1 will contain the report.txt file on batch completion. The report file is
created on batch reset. The various batch log files for each batch are also stored in this folder e.g.
LOG.TXT.
The root directory of the SD card should always contain a folder called SYSTEM. This contains
the system files for the application. This includes the report template files (both in text and html format),
the system log files (reglog, modlog and rebootlog) and any system files that have been generated
during an upgrade or backup procedure. These files can be emailed to a specified user via the front
panel menu. There is no reason to alter, delete or amend these files. Upon reboot the application looks
to find certain files. If it cannot find them on the SD card it will automatically create them. This makes it
possible to replace your existing SD card with a new blank card. You only need to reboot the instrument
with the new card inserted to continue operating as before.
There are various file commands that can be executed via the command line that specifically
cover the use of the SD file system. These will be covered in the software command line section.
