• Make sure you have set an appropriate Overcut setting.
• Make sure the mat is not skewing during the cut. This can happen if even one of the pinch wheels is no
longer centered under a white arrow. It can also happen if the speed and/or pressure is set too high.

My cardstock is not cutting all the way through. I have the blade all the way out and using the maximum force.
• Please refer to Section 1.07.3. It’s important to only have as much blade exposed as is necessary to
penetrate the cardstock. Reduce your force back to conservative values for the material you are cutting
and do a test cut.
• Do not use more pressure than is needed. If the cardstock is cutting through about 90% of the cut, then
turn on Multi-Cut. Some cardstocks do better with a second pass at a lower force.

I calibrated the camera for print and cut but every cut is off by the same amount.
• Repeat the calibration procedure.

I calibrated the camera for print and cut and the cuts start off accurate but, by the end of the cut, there is a lot of
error.
• This is called “drift” and can sometimes be corrected by slowing the speed and making sure the cuts
aren’t so deep that the blade is causing some drag to occur.
• An alternative solution is to use the Array Mark function presented in Section 3.07.2.

B4 Software Issues
I noticed that some of the settings I see in the screenshots in this manual are not in my version.
• As long as you are staying up to date with SCAL releases, then these are most likely settings only
available in the Pro version of SCAL5.

The Shapes tab in the Library doesn’t show any shapes. Do I need to install them separately? I’m on a Mac.
• This occurs when the user has dragged the Sure Cuts A Lot program to the desktop. It needs to remain
in the Sure Cuts A Lot 5 subfolder inside Applications.

I set the Cut Line Type to Draw (Pen) but my shapes are not being drawn. Nothing is happening.
• In the Cut Settings window, you need to change the Holder setting to Pen.

I installed some fonts inside of SCAL but they are no longer there!
