Reducing electrostatic damage while taking measuremens
Static electricity that builds up on your body can damage static-sensitive
components. If you are working with static-sensitive components, ground
yourself when using probes. Wearing a grounding strap safely sends static
charges on your body to earth ground.
Connect the grounding strap to the oscilloscope ground, or to the same ground
circuit that the oscilloscope is connected to.
Doing a functional check
Perform this quick functional check to verify that your oscilloscope is operating
correctly.
Connect the oscilloscope power cable as described in
Powering On the Oscilloscope. See Powering the oscilloscope
on page 13.
Power on the oscilloscope.
