RemovingthePistonPump/Hydrostat
1.Parkmachineonalevelsurface.Lowercuttingunits,stopengineand
engageparkingbrake.Removekeyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Raiseandsupporthood.
WARNING
Beforedisconnectingorperforminganyworkonthehydraulic
system,allpressureinthesystemmustberelieved.SeeRelieving
HydraulicSystemPressure(page5–3).
3.Removepumpdrivebelt(seeRemovingtheDriveBelt(Figure65)(page
5–75)).
4.Removeneutralarmassembly(seeRemovingtheNeutralArm(page5–77)).
5.Thoroughlycleanthehydraulichoseendsandttingsonpiston
pump/hydrostatandgearpumpstopreventhydraulicsystemcontamination.
6.Disconnectthesuctionhosefromthebarbedttingonthebottomofthegear
pumpanddrainhydraulictankintoasuitablecontainer.
7.Labelallhydraulichosesandttingsforassemblypurposes.
8.Disconnectallhydraulichosesconnectedtothehydraulicttingsonthe
pistonpump/hydrostatandgearpump.Allowhosestodrainintoasuitable
container.Plughoseandttingopeningstopreventcontamination.
CAUTION
Supportpumpassemblyduringremovaltopreventthemfromfalling
andcausingpersonalinjuryorcomponentdamage.
9.Supporthydraulicpumpassemblytopreventitfromshifting.
10.Removebothangeheadscrewsandangenutsthatsecurepumpsupport
toenginemount.
11.Removefastenersandspacerssecuringthepumpmountplatetothe
engine(Figure68).Recordlocationofcapscrews,washersandspacersfor
assemblypurposes.
12.Carefullyremovepumpmountplatewithpumps,pulley,pumpsupportand
idlerassemblyfromthemachine.
Note:Acasedrainexistsinthepistonpump/hydrostatandasuctionport
isneartheinputshaftofthegearpump(Figure69).Whenthegearpump
isremovedfromthepistonpump/hydrostat,plugbothcasedrainholesto
preventdrainingthepumps.
