IMPORTANT
DONOThitwheelhub,wheelhubpullerorwheelmotorwitha
hammerduringremovalorinstallation.Hammeringmaycause
damagetothewheelmotor.
3.Removethewheelassembly,wheelhubandbrakedrumfromthehydraulic
motor.Removethebrakeassemblyfromthebrakebracket(seeRemoving
theFrontWheelandBrake(page7–9)).
4.Thoroughlycleanthehydrauliclineendsandwheelmotorttingstoprevent
hydraulicsystemcontamination.
WARNING
Beforedisconnectingorperforminganyworkonthehydraulic
system,allpressureinthesystemmustberelieved.SeeRelieving
HydraulicSystemPressure(page5–3).
5.Disconnectthehydraulictubesfromadaptersonthewheelmotors.Plugthe
hoseopeningstopreventcontamination.
6.Removefour(4)socketheadscrewsandlocknutsthatsecurebrakebracket
andwheelmotortoframe.Locatedandretrievethespacers.Removethe
brakebracketandwheelmotorfrommachine.
7.Ifnecessary,removethehydraulicadaptersandO−ringsfromthewheel
motor.DiscardremovedtheO−rings.
InstallingtheFrontWheel(Figure79)
1.Ifadapterswereremovedfromwheelmotor,lubricateandplacenewO−rings
ontottings.Installadaptersintomotoropeningsandtightenttings(see
InstallingtheHydraulicFittings(SAEStraightThreadO-RingFittings)(page
5–8)).
2.Installthewheelmotorandbrakebrackettoframeusingfour(4)socket
headscrews,spacersandlocknuts.
3.Removethecapsandplugsfromwheelmotorttingsandhoses.Using
labelsplacedduringmotorremoval,properlyconnecthydrauliclinesto
motor(seeInstallingHydraulicHosesandTubes(O-RingFaceSealFittings)
(page5–6)).
4.Installthebrakeassemblytothebrakebracket.Installthebrakedrum,wheel
hubandwheelassemblytothehydraulicmotor(seeInstallingtheFront
WheelandBrake(page7–11)).
5.Lowerthemachinetotheground.
6.Makesurethatlocknutistorquedfrom345to372N·m(255to275ft−lb).
Also,makesurethatthewheellugnutsaretorquedfrom61to88N·m(45
to65ft−lb).
7.Makesurethatthehydraulictankisfull.Addcorrectuidifnecessary.
