Note:ThehydraulicmanifoldshowninFigure89usesseveralzeroleakplugs.
Theseplugshaveataperedsealingsurfaceontheplugheadthatisdesigned
toresistvibrationinducedplugloosening.Thezeroleakplugsalsohavean
O-ringtoprovideasecondaryseal.Ifzeroleakplugremovalisnecessary,lightly
raptheplugheadusingapunchandhammerbeforeusinganallenwrenchto
removetheplug:theimpactwillallowplugremovalwithlesschanceofdamage
tothesocketheadoftheplug.Wheninstallingplugsintothemanifold,torque
plugstothevaluesidentiedinFigure89.
SolenoidOperated,ReliefandLogicControlCartridgeValves
1.Makesurethatthemanifoldiscleanbeforeremovingthecartridgevalve
andsealkit.
2.Ifsolenoidvalveistoberemovedfrommanifold,removenutsecuring
solenoidtothecartridgevalve.CarefullyslidesolenoidandO-rings(if
equipped)offthevalve.
IMPORTANT
Usecarewhenremovingcartridgevalves.Slightbendingor
distortionofthestemtubecancausebindingandmalfunction.Make
surethatthedeepwellsocketfullyengagesthevalvebase.
3.Removecartridgevalvefrommanifoldwithadeepwellsocketwrench.
Removesealkitfromvalve.
4.Visuallyinspectthemanifoldportandcartridgevalvefordamagetosealing
surfaces,damagedthreads,andcontamination.
A.Contaminationmaycausevalvestostickorhangup.Contamination
canbecomelodgedinsmallvalveoricesorsealareascausingvalve
malfunction.
B.Ifvalvesealingsurfacesappearpittedordamaged,thehydraulicsystem
maybeoverheatingortheremaybewaterinthesystem.
CAUTION
Useeyeprotectionsuchasgoggleswhenusingcompressedair.
5.Cleaningcartridgevalves:
A.Fornon-solenoidoperatedvalves:
Submergevalveincleanmineralspiritstoushoutcontamination.If
valvedesignallows,useaprobetopushtheinternalspoolinandout20
to30timestoushoutcontamination.Particlesasneastalcumpowder
canaffecttheoperationofhighpressurehydraulicvalves.Cleanand
drycartridgewithcompressedair.
B.Forsolenoidoperatedvalves:
Temporarilyinstallsolenoidoncartridgevalveandconnecta12
voltpowersourcetothesolenoid.Whileenergized,ushoutany
contaminationwithanonammableaerosolbrakecleaner.De-energize
thesolenoid.Repeattheushwhileenergizedprocedure5or6times.
Particlesasneastalcumpowdercanaffecttheoperationofhigh
pressurehydraulicvalves.Removesolenoidfromcartridge.
