sureplasticplugispresseduntoreelshaft41to35mm(1.63to1.37in.)
belowtheendoftheshaft(Figure183).
Note:OneinserthasLHthreadsandtheotherinserthasRHthreads.The
insertwithLHthreadshasagrooveontheinsertface.Agrooveiscutinthe
endofthereelshaftthathasLHthreads.
2.Ifpreviouslyremoved,usecorrectsplineinserttooltoinstallthreadedinserts
(refertoSpecialT ools(page2–13)).Applythreadlockingcompound(Loctite
#243orequivalent)tothreadedportionofinsert.Tightenthreadedinsert
from115to128N·m(85to95ft-lb).
3.Makesurethatthetwo(2)retainingringsarefullyseatedintothegrooveson
thecuttingreelshaft.
4.Carefullydrivespecialwashersontoreelshaftwithtaperedsideofwashers
towardreel(atsidetowardbearinglocation).Installedwashersshouldbe
tightagainstretainingringandshouldnotwobbleasthereelisrotated.
IMPORTANT
Theockedsealshouldbeinstalledsotheocked(red)sideofthe
sealistowardthebearinglocation.
5.Slideockedseals(ocked(red)sideorientatedtowardbearinglocation)
andbearingsfullyontoreelshaft.Flockedsealsandbearingsshouldbottom
onreelshaftshoulder.
