D.Carefullyinstallrstoutersealintorollertubemakingsurethatseallip
(andgarterspring)facesendoftube.Usebearing/outersealtool(refer
toSpecialTools(page2–13))andsoftfacehammertolightlyseatseal
(Figure194).Makesurethatshaftandbearingsstillfreelyrotateafter
sealinstallation.
E.Usingthesameprocess,installsecondoutersealmakingsuretonot
crushtheinstalledouterseal.Again,makesurethatshaftandbearings
stillfreelyrotate.
IMPORTANT
Makesurethatallgreaseisremovedfromshaftthreadstoprevent
bearinglocknutloosening.
5.Thoroughlycleanthreadsonbothendsofrollershaft.
Note:Iforiginalbearinglocknut(s)arebeingused,applyLoctite#243(or
equivalent)tothreadsoflocknut(s).
6.Installbearinglocknutontoeachendoftherollershaft.Makesurethatouter
sealsarenotdamagedduringnutinstallation.Torquelocknutsfrom68
to81N·m(50to60ft-lb).
7.Ifgreasettingswereremovedfromendofrollershaft,installttingsinshaft.
Note:Afterrollerisinstalledtocuttingunit,lubricaterollergreasettings,
rotaterollertoproperlydistributegreaseinbearingsandcleanexcessgrease
fromrollerends.Aproperlyassembledrollershouldrotatewithlessthan
0.68N·m(5in-lb)resistance.
