9.Fillthegearboxwith80W-90gearoilandtightendrain/llplugfrom4to5
N·m(32to52in-lb).
Gearboxoilcapacityfor7in.reelcuttingunits=90cc(3oz.)
CAUTION
Usethe1-3/8”atsontheinputshafttopreventtheinputshaftfrom
rotatingduringadapterinstallation.DONOTusethe1/2”hexonthe
inputshafttosecuretheshaftduringadapterinstallationorinput
shaftdamagemayoccur.
10.Ifremoved,installthethreadedadapterintheinputshaft.Ifreusinga
previouslyinstalledthreadedadapter,applymediumstrengththreadlockerto
thesmaller(5/8-11)threadsonly.Tightenthreadedadapterfrom156-196
N·m(115-125ft-lb).
11.Operategroomergearboxbyhandtocheckforproperoperationpriorro
installation.
InstallingtheGearBoxAssembly
1.Parkmachineonacleanandlevelsurface,lowercuttingunitscompletely
totheground,stopengine,engageparkingbrakeandremovekeyfromthe
keyswitch.
CAUTION
Contactwiththereelorothercuttingunitpartscanresultinpersonal
injury.Useheavygloveswhenhandlingthecuttingreel.
2.Safelypreventreelfromrotatingbyblockingthecuttingreelwithpieceof
woodnearoneofthereelspiders.
IMPORTANT
Groomergearboxesinstalledontheleftsideofthecuttingunit
usealefthandthread.Turntheinputshaft(rearrollerbrushdrive
shaft)counterclockwisetoinstallthegearbox.Groomergearboxes
installedontherightsideofthecuttingunitusearighthandthread.
Turntheinputshaftclockwisetoinstallthegearbox.
