Changing the engine oil
WARNING
Burn hazard.
The operating oil temperature in the diesel engine
is more than 93°C (200°F). Skin contact with hot
oil will result in severe burns.
Stop the engine and wait until the engine oil
drain plug is comfortable to touch before drain-
ing the oil.
ENVIRONMENTAL NOTE
Avoid environmental damage.
Collect old engine oil in a large enough container
to avoid spillage and dispose of it in an ecologically
sound manner.
Refer to Section 10.6, page 155 »Specications and
lling quantities« for replacing the drained engine
lubricating oil.
Adding engine oil
If the uid level is under the »Maximumark, the uid
must be added:
1. Open the oil ller neck Item 2 (Fig. 66).
2. Add the engine oil.
3. Check the oil level.
4.
Add engine oil until the oil level is at the »Maximum«
mark.
5. Close the oil ller neck Item 2 (Fig. 66).
Use the correct oil grade (see Section 10.6, page
155 »Specications and lling quantities«).
Use a funnel with tube extension as aid for lling.
