REMOVING THE LOW ER BRACKET
1. Stand the vehicle on a level surface.

Securely support the vehicle so that t here is
no danger of it falling over.
2. Remove:
• Upper
ri ng nut
• R
ub ber washer
• Lower
ri ng nut "1"
• Lower bracket

Securely support the lower bracket so that
there is no danger of it falling.
TIP ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
• Hold the lower ri ng nut with steering nut
wrench, and then remove the upper ring nut
with the
ri ng nut wrench.
• Remove the lower ring nut with the
st eering nut
wrench
"2".

b. Remove the beari
ng race "3" from the lower
bracket with a floor chisel
"4" and hammer.
c. Insta
ll a n ew dust seal and new bearing rac-
es.

If the bearing race is not installed properly ,
the steering head pipe could be damaged.
