When the engine is running and the transmission is
in
gear
, the engine will stop if the sidestand is
moved down. This is because the electric current from the ignition coils does
not
fl
ow
to the ECU when
both the gear position sensor (neutral circui
t)
and sidestand switch are set to "OFP', thereby prevent
in
g
the spark plugs from produc
in
g a spark. However, t
he
engine continues to run under t
he
following con-
ditions:
• The transmission is
in
gear (the neutral circuit
of
the gear position sensor is open) and the sidestand
is up (the sidestand switch circuit is closed).
• The transmission is
in
neutral (the
neu
tral
ci
rcuit
of
the gear posi
tio
n sensor is closed) and the sides-
tand is down (the sidestand swit
ch
ci

uit is open).
