OPERATING OVERVIEW
The following list represents a general description of how to operate a Pinnacle Plus+
unit. You will want to adapt this list to your Pinnacle Plus+ configuration and your
application, environment, and requirements.
1. Power on the Pinnacle Plus+ unit.
2. If you are using a passive panel, verify that the POWER ON and INTERLOCK
LEDs light. If the INTERLOCK LED does not light, an error code should appear
(see the “Troubleshooting” chapter for more information).
If you are using an active front panel or a Pinnacle Remote Active Panel, verify
that the display screen displays “Advanced Energy, Fort Collins, Colorado.” In
addition, verify that an LED lights to show the control setting and another lights
to show the regulation setting. Finally, verify that the OFF LED lights.
Note: If an error code (that is, an “EXXX” code) appears scrolling on the front
panel or on the Pinnacle Remote Active Panel, refer to the “Error Code
Troubleshooting Table” in the Troubleshooting chapter (Chapter 7)for an
explanation and troubleshooting suggestions.
3. If you are using the passive panel, verify that the BUS FAULT and OVERTEMP
LEDs are not lighted. If either or both is lighted, power down the Pinnacle Plus+
unit, clear the fault, and return to Step 1. (Refer to the “Troubleshooting” chapter
for error code explanations and troubleshooting suggestions.)
If you are using an active front panel or the Pinnacle Remote Active Panel, verify
that the two-line display information shows on the display screen (see the “I/O
Communication and Control” chapter for details). If the display screen shows an
error code and message, note the error code number and refer to the
“Troubleshooting” chapter.
4. Select a method of control: Host (serial) port, User port, or local (panel control).
5. Select a regulation mode: power, current, or voltage.
Note: Output power must be off (that is, output must be de-energized) to switch
between regulation modes.
6. Enter a set point value.
7. If necessary, enter a pulse frequency and reverse time.
8. If necessary, enable joule mode and select a set point in joules.
