Frequency Accuracy Calibration
Review Test Considerations and Gain Adjustment Considerations before beginning this procedure.
Configuration: Frequency, 10 V range
The frequency accuracy of the Fluke 5720A is insufficient to calibrate the DMM. Its frequency output needs to be
calibrated against a more accurate reference. The Agilent 33500 Series function generator is recommended for this
adjustment.
1. Configure the instrument for frequency measurements at 10 V and 10 kHz, with 1 second gate time.
2. Apply a 10 kHz sine wave between 7 and 10 Vrms.
3. Enter the actual applied input frequency (see Entering Adjustment Values). A Calibration Step Succeeded message
indicates success; if the display shows Calibration Step Failed, check the input value, range, function, and entered
adjustment value and repeat the adjustment step.
4. Store the new calibration constants (see Storing the Calibration Constants).
5. Verify the Frequency Gain adjustments.
This adjustment takes approximately 1 second to complete.
