Provisioning output port timing
...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
The purpose of output port timing provisioning is to provision the timing properties for
the 1.5 Mbit/s, 2 Mbit/s, and X.21 output ports and the station clock output ports.
When to use
If a 1.5 Mbit/s, 2 Mbit/s or X.21 tributary port has to be used as a timing reference for
other equipment. This can be done for both SDH and non-SDH equipment.

port timing” (p. 7-47).
Before you begin
Pay attention to the following:
• Use of retiming on the 1.5 Mbit/s or2 Mbit/s tributary ports can affect the data
integrity of the signal.
• When quality level information must be sent out on the 2 Mbit/s station clock
output ports the Signal Type must be 2 Mbit/s framed.
• The provisioned Signal Type for the station clock output is the same for both
station clock output ports.
Provision 1.5 Mbit/s, 2 Mbit/s, or X.21 Output Port Timing
The following procedure is applicable to set the timing parameters for the physical 1.5
Mbit/s, 2 Mbit/s, or X.21 output ports. Since the windows for the different tributaries
are the same, < XXX> is used for the different tributaries, instead of repeating the
window names for either 1.5 Mbit/s, 2 Mbit/s, or X.21 ports.
