The safety rules stated in the manual describe the operations and/or precautions that must be
observed to safeguard service personnel during the working phases and to guarantee
equipment safety; that is, avoiding exposing persons, animals, or things to the risk of being
injured or damaged.
If the safety protection features have been impaired, REMOVE POWER.
To cut off power, switch off the power supply units and cut off the power station upstream
(rack or station distribution frame).
The safety rules described in this manual are distinguished by the following symbol:
Labels indicating danger, forbiddance, command
It is of utmost importance to follow the instructions printed on the labels affixed to the units
and assemblies:
• dangerous electrical voltages
• risk of explosion
• moving mechanical parts
• heat-radiating mechanical parts
• harmful optical signals
• microwave radiations
Pay attention to the information stated in the following sections, and proceed as instructed.
Note: The symbols presented in the following sections are all the possible symbols that
could be on Alcatel-Lucent equipment, but are not necessarily on the equipment this manual
refers to.
