5.8.7 Serial Number Management
5.8.7.1 Setting
1. Prepare a floppy disk (IBM 1.44M format) on which the files below are stored in
subdirectory MT8801.

2. Power-OFF
3. Set bit 0 of the DIP switch to ON.
4. Insert the FD containing the data files above in the drive.
5. Press BS + Power-ON. After the FD access started, release the keys.
6. After a set serial number appears in the center of the screen and a short buzzer
sounds, follow the displayed messages to perform the operation. When the setting
terminates normally, a long buzzer sounds.
7. After the message “Loading ... done” appears and a long buzzer sounds, the instal-
lation is completed.
8. Power-OFF
9. Turn the power on. After the set serial number appears in the center of the
ANRITSU logo display screen, the setting is completed.
• Specify each serial number with 20 or fewer alphanumeric characters. Be sure to
suffix CR + LF to the data.
• A new serial number cannot be overwritten on the device for which a serial
number is already assigned.
• The number is set on the flash memory of the Main CPU board. Take great care
when replacing the board.
5.8.7.2 Release
The operation procedure is the same as for the setting. Set data to -1.
