Long-term acoustic exposure protection1
Avaya J100 Series IP Phones have the long-term acoustic exposure protection to prevent the 2
users from getting acoustic shocks. This feature reduces the loud volume of the conversations on 3
the phone call to permissible acoustic limits. The user can set the permissible acoustic limit to 4
dynamic or predefined static values. If a dynamic setting is selected, the feature activates itself 5
and gradually reduces the loud volume of the phone conversations to prevent from reaching the 6
damaging decibel levels.7
Long-term acoustic exposure protection feature satisfies OSHA, ETSI and employee health safety 8
requirements.9
Important:
Only L100 Series Headsets with RJ9 connector support long-term acoustic exposure 10
protection when the headset profile is set to Profile1.11

Long-term acoustic protection feature reduces the loud volume of the conversations on the phone 14
call to permissible acoustic limits, you can configure the long-term acoustic exposure protection for 15
your headset.16
Before you begin17
Ensure you set the headset profile to Profile1, and use L100 Series Headsets.18
Procedure19
1. Press Main Menu.20
2. Scroll to Settings and press Select.21
3. Scroll to Audio settings and press Select.22
4. Scroll to Long term acoustic protection and press Select.23
5. Choose one of the following and press Select:24
Default : Sets the acoustic protection values to one of the following options that your 25
administrator sets:26
