20.2 Installing a Battery
The battery compartment is in the bottom part of the monitor, please refer
to the following steps when installing or charging the batteries.
1. Turn off power of the monitor, and disconnect the power wire and other
connected wires.
2. Open the battery door towards the direction labeled on it.
3. Take out the old battery.
4. Insert the new battery towards the direction labeled.
5. Close the battery door.
20.3 Optimizing Battery Performance
A battery needs at least two optimizing cycles when it is put into use for
the first time. A battery cycle is one complete, uninterrupted charge of the
battery, followed by a complete, uninterrupted discharge of the battery. A
battery should be conditioned regularly to maintain its useful life. Condition a
battery once when it is used or stored for two months, or when its run time
becomes noticeably shorter.
To optimize a battery, follow this procedure:
1. Disconnect the monitor from the patient and stop all monitoring and
measuring procedures.
2. Place the battery in need of optimizing into the battery compartment to the
monitor.
3. Place the monitor in the charger stand and connect the AC mains. Allow the
battery to be charged uninterruptedly for above 6 hours.
4. Remove the AC mains and allow the monitor to run from the battery until it
shuts off.
5. Replace the monitor in the charger stand and connect the AC mains. Allow
the battery to be charged uninterruptedly for above 6 hours.
6. The optimizing of the battery is over.
