Wearandcorrosionofinternalcomponentsduetowa-
tercontent,whichaffectslubricity

Deteriorationofsomerubbersealingcompoundsinthe
fuelsystem
•
Biodieseloxidation,whichcanleadtotheformationof
depositsthatmayharmthefuelinjectionsystem
NOTICE:CASECONSTRUCTIONWarrantywillnot
coveranyproblemintheenginefuelinjectionequip-
mentthatresultsfromnon-compliancewiththefollowing
conditionsforbiodieselfuelhandlingandbiodieselfuel
maintenance.
Purchasebiodieselfuelfromatrustedsupplierwho
understandstheproductandmaintainsacceptable
fuelquality.Itishighlyrecommendedthatyouuse
biodieselfromBQ9000accreditedsupplierstomaintain
thequalityandconsistencyofthefuel.TheBQ9000
QualityManagementProgramisaccreditedbytheNa-
tionalBiodieselBoardforproducersandmarketersof
biodieselfuel.SeetheNationalBiodieselBoardwebsite
atwww.biodiesel.orgformoreinformation.
Thesuppliermustpre-blendbiodieselfuel.Mixing
biodieselfuelblendson-sitecanresultinanincorrect
mixturethatmaydamagetheengineand/orfuelsystem.
FormachinesusingTier4A(interim)andStageIIIA
engineswithanexhaustaftertreatmentsystem,the
useofbiodieselblendsaboveB5throughB20willnot
voidtheCASECONSTRUCTIONwarrantyaslongas
youstringentlyfollowtheseconditionsforbiodieselfuel
handlingandmaintenance:
1.IfyouuseabiodieselblendstocktoASTMD6751,
youmusttakespecialprecautions.Ensurethatthe
biodieselblendstockfullycomplieswiththefollowing
specialrequirements:
•
GroupIMetalscontent(sodiumandpotassium)
mustbelessthanorequalto5mg/kgperEN14538.
•
GroupIIMetalscontent(calciumandmagnesium)
mustbelessthanorequalto5mg/kgperEN14538.
•
Phosphoruscontentlowerthan4mg/kgisa
mandatoryrequirement(perASTMD4951).
2.TheresultinggreaterthanB5throughB20blendmust
notexceed1mg/kgforGroupIMetals(sodiumand
potassium)andforGroupIIMetals(calciumandmag-
nesium).
NOTICE:FormachinesusingTier4A(interim)and
StageIIIAengineswithanexhaustaftertreatment
systeminregionswherethebiodieselfuelblend
stockissuppliedtotheASTMD6751standards,itis
essentialthatevidenceofcompliancetothespecial
limitsforGroupIMetals,GroupIIMetalsandthere-
ducedphosphoruscontentspeciedabovebeob-
tainedoneverydeliveryoffuelfromthefuelsup-
plier.Failuretocomplywiththisrequirementcan
resultindamagetothecatalystoftheaftertreat-
mentsystemthatwillnotbecoveredunderwar-
ranty.
NOTICE:CASECONSTRUCTIONmayvoidyourwar-
rantyiftheproblemisassociatedwithpoorfuelquality
duetoimproperblending.Itistheresponsibilityofthe
fuelsupplierand/oryourselftoensuretherighttypeof
fuelandblendisdeliveredandused.
Maintenanceintervals
Formachinesusingtheall-electronicengineswithahigh-
pressurecommonrailfuelsystem,theuseofbiodiesel
blendsuptoB20reducestheengineoilandlterchange
intervalto250h.Forallengines,seetheoperator’sman-
ualforspecicmaintenanceintervals.
Checkallhoses,connectionsandgasketstoensurein-
tegrityandcleanlinessevery3monthsor150hoursof
operation,whichevercomesrst.
Regularoilsamplingishighlyrecommendedtomonitor
foroildeteriorationandenginedeterioration.
NOTE:Oilsamplingkitsareavailablefromyourautho-
rizedCASECONSTRUCTIONdealer.
Whenswitchingbackfrombiodieseltoregular#2diesel,
youshouldchangeallfuellters,oilandoillterevenif
thechangeoverfallsbetweenroutineserviceintervals.
Storage
Youshouldnotstorethemachineformorethanthree
monthswithbiodieselfuelinthefuelsystem.Forlonger
storagetime,CASECONSTRUCTIONstronglysuggests
thatyouuseonlyregular#2dieselfuel.
NOTE:Ifyoumuststoreamachineforlongerthan3
months,youmustruntheengineonregular#2dieselfuel
foraminimumof20hpriortostorage.Thiswillushthe
biodieselfueloutofthefuelsystem.
Biodieselfuelishighlyhygroscopicandtendstocollect
watermorethandieselfuel.Watercollectionincreases
theriskofalgaeandbacteriagrowththatcancausese-
veredamagetothefuelinjectionsystem.Keepthema-
chinefueltanksandon-sitestoragetanksasfullaspossi-
bletolimittheamountofairandwatervaporinside.Drain
waterfromthetanksatleastonceaweek.
