Checkthebatteryuidlevelevery500hoursofoperationormoreoftenifconditionsaresevere.Thebatteryuidcan
decreasewithhightemperatures.
Prioroperation:
Keepallunauthorizedpersonnelclearofthearea.Parkthemachineonlevelground,inneutralwiththeparkingbrake
applied,andtheattachmentloweredtotheground,turnofftheengine,removethekey,andverifythatenginecom-
ponentshavecooledoravoidcontact.Makesurethatallresidualpressureisrelievedfromcircuitsbeforebeginning
maintenance.TurnthemasterdisconnectswitchOFF.
Checkbatteryuidlevelandspecicgravity
1.Wipethetopofthebatteryorusecompressedairto
removedust.Usecarewhenremovingcapsanddo
notallowdirtorcontaminantstoenterthebatterycells.
2.Insertaatbladescrewdriverintoslotsatthetopof
batterycaps.Removethecellcaps,andchecktheuid
levelineachbatterycell.Thelevelshouldbenoless
than4.8mm(0.2in)fromthebottomofthecell.
3.Adddistilledwater,ifnecessary,theninstallthecell
caps.Continuoususeofthebatterywithlowuidwill
lowerthebatteryperformance.
4.Iftheterminalsaredirty,washwithwarmwater.Rein-
stalltheterminals,applygreaseorsprayrustpreven-
tivesolutiontocreategoodconnections.Iftheterminal
isoxidized,polishitwithawirebrushoremerypaper.
NOTE:Measurethespecicgravityofbatteryuidwitha
gravimeter.Themeasuredvaluewillvarydependingon
theambienttemperature.
