Beforeoperatingthemachine
Beforeoperatingthismachine,completethefollowingprocedures:
1.Makesurethattheuidsandlubricantsaresuitableforprevailingconditions.
2.Checkthelevelofalluids(engineoil,fuel,hydraulicuid,DieselExhaustFluid(DEF)andcoolant).
3.Carryoutthedailymaintenanceoperationslistedonpage7-27.
4.Inspectthemachine,lookforanysignsofpossibleleakage,andcheckthehoses.Tightenorreplaceasneces-
sary.
5.Completerun-inmaintenanceifthemachineisneworhasareconditionedengine.
6.Checktracktension,andcheckforloose,missing,orbrokenparts.
7.Cleanthestepsandhandholds.Grease,oil,mud,oriceinwinteronthestepsandaccesshandlescancause
accidents.Makesurethestepsandhandholdsarekeptcleanatalltimes.
8.Cleanorreplaceanysafetysignsthatareillegible.SeesafetysignsinChapter2.
9.Makesurethattheengineaccesspanelsandalldoorsareproperlyclosedandlatched.
10.Securethecabdoorineitherfullyclosedorfullyopenedposition.
11.Removeanyobstructionsthathindervisibility.Cleanthewindshield,thewindows,andtherearviewmirrors.
12.Checkthatnotoolsorotheritemshavebeenleftonthemachineorintheoperator'scompartment.
13.Makesurenooneisonorunderthemachine.Theoperatormustbealoneonthemachine.
14.Makesurenooneisstandinginthemachineworkingarea.
15.Findoutaboutcurrentsafetymeasuresinuseontheworksite.
16.Workoutaconvenientmeansofescapefromthemachine.Familiarizeyourselfwiththeemergencyexitsinthe
eventofthecabdoorbeingjammedorthemachineturningover.
17.Makesurethatthelightingandsignalingequipmentisfullyoperativebeforeundertakinganytravelorworkduring
hoursofdarkness.
18.Adjusttheseatsothatyoucancomfortablyreachthefootpedalwhenyourbackisagainsttheseatbackrest.
19.Fastenandadjusttheseatbelt.
20.Checktheinstrumentpanelforcorrectindicationswiththeenginerunningandatoperatingtemperature.
