Youcanprolongundercarriagelifebyunderstandingfactorsthatcontributetowear.
Soilconditionsareamajorfactorindeterminingundercarriagewear.Nonabrasivesoils,suchassiltandclaycause
theleastamountofwear.Wet,sandysoilsarethemostabrasiveandcausethemostwear.
Workinginrockyconditionsandothersurfaceswherethegrouserbarsdonotpenetratecauseshighimpactand
twistingloadsonthetrackchains.
Followtheoperatingandmaintenancetipstohelpyougetthemostlifefromyourmachine’sundercarriage.
Wearfactorsyoucancontrol
Minimizetheeffectsofpackingbycheckingtracktensionfrequentlywhenworkinginmud,snowandwetsand.Pack-
ingcancausetrackjumpingandbanging.
Severepackingofmaterialsbetweenundercarriagecomponentscauseswearbyincreasingtracktension.
NOTICE:Runningtracksthataretootightgreatlyreducesthelifeofthebushingandsprocket.Operatethetracksat
therecommendedtension.Thiswillincreasethebushingandsprocketlifeby2.5to3times.
Operatingtechniquesandmaintenancealsogreatlyaffectundercarriagelife.
Avoidspinningthetracksasmuchaspossible,especiallyinabrasivesoilconditions.
Avoidlongrunsathighspeed,andlimittheamountofreversetravel.
Avoidfrequentreverseoperation.Keeptravelspeedtoaminimumwhenworkinginreverse.
Speedimpact,turning,anddirectionofoperationgreatlyaffectwear.
Workupanddownaslopeinsteadofacrossit.Thisdecreaseswearonrollerangesandlinksiderails.
Checktracktension,andcleantheundercarriagemorefrequentlywhenworkinginhighpackingconditions.
Constantlyturningthecrawlerinthesamedirectionwillcauseunevenwear.
Usethesmallesttrackshoespossibletominimizetrackchaintwisting.Limittheuseofwidetrackshoestootation
applications.
Parkthemachineonlevelgroundtopreventsealdistortion.
Cleantheundercarriagemoreoftenwhenoperatinginfreezingconditions
Parkthemachineonplanks.Thisisparticularlyimportantincoldweathertopreventthetracksfromfreezingtothe
ground.

NOTE:Turnthebushingsatthe100percentlimit.
Lettingthepinsandbushingsruntodestructionresultsinacceleratedwearofothercomponents.Thepinsand
bushingsshouldbeipped,endtoend,withthelubeholeremainingDOWNforproperlubrication.Contactyour
authorizeddealerorseetheServiceManualforthismachine.
ExtendedLifeTrack
TheExtendedLifeTrackchainincorporatesabushingthatisfreetorotateonthestandardlubricatedtrackbushing.
Wearisdistributedovertheentirecircumferenceofthebushing.Thebushingisfreetorotatewithoutcreatingthe
scrubbingactionbetweenthesprocketandthebushingasinconventionalcrawlertrackchaindesign.
AmajorreductioninwearontheExtendedLifeTrackchainistheexternalbushingwearcausedbythesprocket
contact.TheExtendedLifeTrackbushingrotateswiththesprocket.Thewearpointisprimarilybetweentheouter
andinnerbushing.Asthechainwearsitmaybecomemore“noisy”undercertaintransportingconditionsduetothe
wearbetweentheinnerandouterbushings.Thisisnormal.
