Field Description
PID Process identifier.
State Process state. Included bel
ow is a summary of the
different process state codes that can appear to
describe the state of a process:
• D—Uninterruptible sleep (usually I/O related)
• ER—Error while running
• NR—Not running
• R—Running or runnable (on run queue)
• S—Interruptible sleep (waiting for an event to
complete)
• T—Stopped, either by a job control signal or
because it is being traced
• W—Paging
• X—Process is dead
• Z—Defunct (“zombie”) process, terminated but
not reaped by its parent
PC Current program counter in hex format.
Start_cnt Number of times a process has been started.
TTY Terminal that controls the process. A “—” usually
mean
s a daemon is not running on any particular tty.
Process Name of the process.
