Using a Setup Password
A setup password is a software security feature that permits
changes to be made to the system configuration only after entering
a unique, preset, secret word or code.
After a setup password is established a setup password prompt
appears each time
F10
is pressed to access Compaq Utilities.
IMPORTANT:
Record your password and put it in a safe place. If you
forget the password, you cannot use
F10
to access Compaq
Utilities until a Compaq authorized dealer, reseller, or service
provider has cleared the password from computer memory.
Establishing a Setup Password
First, access the security software.
1. Turn on or restart the computer.
2. Press
F10
when the cursor appears upper right on the screen.
3. Select Computer Setup
