Solving Battery Problems
The solutions for “Solving Power Problems” also may be helpful.
Problem Possible Cause Solution
Computer does not
turn on when battery
pack is inserted (and
external power is
disconnected).
Battery pack is
discharged.
Connect the computer to
an external power
source and charge the
battery pack.
Replace the battery pack
with a fully charged
battery pack.
Computer beeps
several times
recurrently and
battery power light
or MultiBay drive
light is blinking.
Battery charge is low,
and computer has
entered a low-battery
condition.
You can allow the
computer to shut down,
although you may lose
some unsaved work.
To ensure that your
unsaved work is not lost,
immediately save open
files and do one of
the following:
■
Connect the
computer to an
external power
source to charge the
battery pack.
■
Initiate Suspend
and replace the
battery pack with a
fully charged
battery pack.
■
Shut down the com-
puter or initiate
Hibernation until
you can find another
power source or
charge the
battery pack.
