Solving Battery and Battery Gauge Problems

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Battery gauge
is inaccurate.
The battery pack is
new or was not used
for a long time
and has not been
fully charged.
Fully charge the battery
pack until the battery
power light or the
MultiBay drive light
turns off.
Allow the battery pack to
discharge to the low-
battery warning level at
least every 90 days, then
fully charge.
Battery pack has
reached end of its
useful life.
Purchase a new
battery pack.
Solving Diskette and Diskette Drive Problems
Problem Possible Cause Solution
Cannot access
diskette drive.
Diskette drive is
not seated.
In Windows 95, shut
down the computer,
remove and reinsert the
diskette drive, then turn
on the computer. In
Windows NT, you do
not have to shut down
the computer.
Diskette drive
cannot write to a
diskette.
Diskette is write-
protected.
Disable the write-protect
feature or use a diskette
that is not
write-protected.
Diskette is not
formatted.
Format the diskette.
Not enough space is
left on the diskette.
Use a larger capacity
diskette.
Computer is trying
to write to the
wrong drive.
Verify the drive letter.
The diskette drive
controller or diskette
write ability has
been disabled.
Run Computer Setup
and enable the diskette
drive controller or the
diskette write ability.
