Compaq Utilities comprises Computer Setup, Computer Checkup
(TEST), View System Information (INSPECT), and other
configuration and diagnostic utilities that you can use to
■
Configure the computer system
■
Test for proper functioning of system components
■
Display information about system configuration
NOTE:
To prevent unauthorized access to Compaq Utilities,
establish a set-up password. For instructions, refer to “Using a
Setup Password” in Chapter 13.
To select a utility from the Compaq Utilities menu:
1. Turn on or restart the computer.
To restart a computer running Windows 95 or Windows NT,
click the Start buttonÆShut DownÆRestart the
ComputerÆYes.
2. Press
F10
as soon as the cursor appears near the upper-right
corner of the screen.
The cursor remains upper right on the screen for only about
2 seconds. If you do not press
F10
within this time, you must
restart the computer and try again.
3. If prompted, select a language.
4. Use the up and down cursor keys to select a utility, then
press
Enter
.
