Solving Audio Problems
Problem Possible Cause Solution
Computer beeps
once after you turn it
on.
This is normal; it
indicates successful
completion of the
Power-On Self-Test
(POST).
No action is required.
Computer does not
beep after the
Power-On Self-Test
(POST).
System beeps have
been turned down.
Press Fn+F5, then press
the right cursor key to
increase the system
beeps volume.
Computer beeps
several times
recurrently and the
battery power light
or MultiBay drive
light is blinking.
Battery charge is low
and computer has
entered a low-battery
condition.
Immediately save open
files and resolve the low-
battery condition. (Refer
to Chapter 5.)
Computer does not
beep to indicate a
low-battery
condition.
Low-battery warning
beeps have been
disabled.
Enable low-battery warn-
ing beeps on Battery
Conservation Settings
tab in Power Properties.
System beeps have
been turned down too
low.
Press Fn+F5, then press
the right cursor key to
increase the system
beeps volume.
Audio playback is
too low or too loud.
The computer volume
control or the software
volume control needs
to be adjusted.
Adjust the computer
volume control buttons or
adjust the volume control
in Multimedia Properties.
Internal speakers
produce no sound.
Volume has been
muted.
Press the right volume
control button to increase
the volume.
External speakers or
headphones are
connected to the
computer, or the
computer is docked in
the optional
ArmadaStation.
Use the external
speakers or headphones
or the expansion base
speakers.
To use the internal
speakers, disconnect the
external speakers or
headphones or undock the
computer.
