Identifying and Resolving
a Low-Battery Condition
When a battery pack powering the computer reaches a low-
battery condition—
The system beeps several times.
The indicator light of the bay containing the battery pack
begins to blink.
To resolve a low-battery condition—
save your work. Then do
one of the following:
Initiate Suspend and replace the discharged battery pack with
a fully charged battery pack. To initiate Suspend, press the
suspend button.
Plug the computer into an external power source.
Initiate Hibernation or shut down the computer until an
external power source or a charged battery pack is available.
To initiate Hibernation, press
Fn
+ the suspend button.
If the low-battery condition is not resolved
and the system
reaches a
critical
low-battery condition—
The computer beeps twice, saves data to a Hibernation file,
and shuts down
or
If you have turned off Hibernation, the computer beeps twice,
initiates Suspend, and the power/suspend light also begins to
blink. The computer remains briefly in Suspend until the
battery is almost totally discharged. The computer then shuts
down and unsaved work is lost.
To exit Hibernation after power is restored, slide the power
switch. If you try to exit Hibernation when the battery pack is too
low to complete restoration of your work, press
Fn+Ctrl+Break
to
stop the restoration, then insert a fully charged battery pack or
connect the computer to external power. Restoration resumes
when adequate power is supplied.
Hibernation is turned on by factory-default. To ensure that
Hibernation has not been turned off, click Start

Hibernation tab.
Then click the radio button beside On.
