To run Computer Checkup:
1. Ensure that the computer is connected to external power. (A
low-battery condition could initiate Hibernation and interrupt
the program.)
2. Turn on the external devices that you want to test. Connect the
printer if you plan to print the log of errors.
3. Turn on or restart the computer, then press
F10
when the
cursor appears upper right on the screen
.
4. Select Computer Checkup (TEST) from the Compaq
Utilities menu.
5. Select View Device List.
6. Verify that Computer Checkup correctly detected the
devices installed.

If the list is correct, select OK to exit the dialog box.
■
If the list is incorrect, ensure that any new devices are
installed properly. If you do not find an installation
problem, call your Compaq authorized service provider.
NOTE:
To make a selection in the Installed Compaq Devices
dialog box, press
Alt
+ the letter underlined on the button.
7. Select one of the following and follow the onscreen
instructions.

Quick Check Diagnostics
runs a quick, general test on
each device with a minimal number of prompts. If errors are
found, they are displayed when the testing is complete.
■
Automatic Diagnostics
runs unattended and performs
maximum testing of each device with minimal prompts.
You can choose how many times to run the tests, to stop on
errors, or to print or save a log of errors.
■
Prompted Diagnostics
allows maximum control over the
device testing process. You can choose attended or
unattended testing, decide to stop on errors, or choose to
print or save a log of errors.
