1. Blade Rotatable Locking Collet
(MC9840 only) — Provides simple and
fast insertion and removal of the blade.
Retract the locking collet towards the back
of the handpiece and insert the blade hub.
Release the locking collet and the blade is
securely locked in place. Allows 360°
positioning of the blade cutting window.
2. Blade Locking Collet (D9820, D9824,
D9920, D9924 only) — Accepts a cutter
blade. Simply insert the blade hub and push
to lock into place. Remove by rotating the
collet in the direction of the arrow and
pulling out the blade.
3. Direction Select Button — Press
and release to select the direction
of blade rotation between
Forward, Reverse and Oscillate while the
handpiece is operating or inactive.
4. ON/OFF Button — Press and
release this button to turn the shaver
handpiece motor on. Press again to
turn off.
This button is also associated with
“Window Indexing”. When “Window
Indexing” is enabled with DIP Switch 5 on
the top section of the controller, the “ON/
OFF” button is used to “index” or position
the cutting window so it stops in the same
position each time the blade stops, i.e.,
where it starts is where it stops. See
“2.1.3.8 Switch 5 - Window Indexing” on
page 44.
Advantage and APEX Handpieces
ONLY (D9824, D9924, C9824 and
C9828) — The “Direction” and “ON/OFF”
button function can be changed to increase
and decrease speed, respectively. To
change the function of the buttons, press
and hold the Direction button when the
handpiece is NOT operating. The controller
will “beep” twice to indicate that the
handpiece button function has changed.
Press the Direction button to increase the
handpiece speed. Press the “ON/OFF”
button to decrease the handpiece speed.
When no further speed change is requested,
the controller will “beep” twice again
indicating that the button function has
returned to its original function.
5. Suction Port Valve — Manually controls
suction flow.
6. Suction Port — Connects to the suction
line for aspiration.
