4.3.6.1 Surround Decoder Operation
The RS20i monitors the selected input signal to determine the type of audio signal received. If a DTS,
DTS-HD or Dolby Digital bitstream is detected, the RS20i decodes the audio and places it on the first 8
channels (see Table 10, below).
If an un-encoded digital signal is received (such as 2-channel PCM), the signal is routed to the first two
channels in the RS20i (Left and Right) and the others remain muted. The HDMI also supports 6 or 8
channel un-encoded PCM signal. The RS20i will switch between stream types as the signal type
changes. This occurs automatically within the RS20i.
