Target interception graphics will now be displayed
for the selected target, regardless of whether it will
cross your path or not. (If your paths will not cross
then only the COG line will be displayed).
12.10 Rendez-Vous (Target
interception)
The Intercept point is displayed when performing
an individual Interception. It can be used to help
rendez-vous with friends or for Pilot boats and
the Coastguard to intercept vessels that are to be
boarded. The Intercept point is displayed within the
Interception zone.
When performing an individual interception you are
placing your vessel on a collision course with the
target vessel. It WILL be necessary to change to a
parallel course to prevent a collision.
Pre-requisites:
You must be familiar with the IRPCS.
You must be familiar with the AIS feature.
You must have a thorough understanding of the
Target interception feature.
1. Initial Target interception graphics.
2. Actual vessel movements to perform the
rendez-vous.
Performing an individual Target
interception
Pre-requisites:
The AIS Overlay must be enabled
1. Select the AIS target you want to Intercept.
2. From the context menu select Show
Interceptions so that On is selected.
Target interception graphics will now be displayed
for the selected target.
If no Intercept point is displayed then your
vessel is not travelling fast enough to catch the
target vessel. You will need to accelerate, or
alternatively call the target vessel and request
them to slow down.
