Gigabit Ethernet Port (LAN1 and LAN2) LEDs
On each Ethernet port, the Activity LED flashes to indicate activity while the Link LED may be
green, amber or off to indicate the speed of the connection. Refer to Figure 8–24 and Table 8–23 for
descriptions of the GbE port status LEDs.
Component Description
1. Power supplies Dual, redundant power supplies provide
power to the
system. For a description of the power supply LED
states, refer to Power Supply LED.
2. NVRAM card LEDs The NVRAM indicators provide information about the
st
atus of the NVRAM card. For details, refer to NVRAM
Card LEDs
3. Ethernet port: NIC 1 NIC 1 provides Gigabit Ethernet connectivity.
4. Ethernet port: NIC 0 NIC 0 provides Gigabit Ethernet connectivity as well as
a conn
ection for the Baseboard Management Console
(BMC). For information about the BMC connection, refer
to Connecting the ContentDirectors to a Network Switch.
5. System Heartbeat LED Blinks to indicate power and normal functi
onality

BMC Heartbeat LED Blinks to indicate that Baseboard Management Console
(BM
C) is functioning normally. The BMC is a
troubleshooting utility, which can be accessed in the
event of system failure.
7. KVM port Allows you to connect a keyboard, video, and mouse
swi
t
ch.
8. SAS port A Serial Attached SCSI port on each controller allows
yo
u to connect to multiple ContentStores.
CAUTION: With Harmonic MediaGrid 4.0, SAS
cables are not hot-swappa
ble. When replacing
or removing a SAS cable, you must first power
down the associated ContentServer controller
using SystemManager, replace or re-connect
the SAS cable, and then power on the
ContentServer controller by pressing the power
button on the front panel.
