NOTE:
You cannot destr oy a library that is curr ently being accessed b y a backup application.
When a virtual library is destroyed, all the tape d rives associated with the library are also destroyed. The
cartridges in the virtual library, however, a re not destroyed. They are moved to the Firesafe where they
are stored until you either destroy them or associate them with a virtua l lib rary. See Mana ging car tridges.
To destroy (delete) a virtual library:
1. O pen a Command View VLS session and log in as the administrator. See Opening a Command
View VLS session from Command View TL.
2. Click the System tab.
3. Select the virtual library in the navigation tree.
The virtual library details window opens (Figure 49).

4. Click Destroy Virtual Library in the task bar.
5. Click Yes to conrm.
6. Click Finish.
Destroying a tape drive
NOTE:
Destroying a tape drive may create a gap in the default LUN numbering on the FC host port to which it
was mapped. If a gap is created, restart the VLS device emulations to remove the gap. See Restarting the
VLS device emulations.
Most operating systems will ignore (cannot a ccess) any virtual devices with LUN numbers that follow a
gap in the LUN numbering on an FC host port.
NOTE:
You cann
ot destroy a tape drive that is currently being used by a backup application.
