Scenarios
Install a hard disk if:
● A hard disk has failed.
● A hard disk needs to be replaced with a new model.
● A hard disk that has no free space needs to be replaced.
● A hard disk needs to be added.
The server does not need to be powered o when the hard disk is installed.
Prerequisites
Conditions
No special conditions are required for this operation.
Data
● You have obtained the cabinet number and chassis number of the RH8100 V3.
● You have located the RH8100 V3 based on the preceding information, and
labeled its panel to prevent misoperations.
● You have determined the position on the RH8100 V3 for installing a hard disk.
Tools
● ESD gloves
● Packaging materials, for example, an ESD bag
Hardware
A hard disk to be installed in the RH8100 V3
Procedure
Step 1 Wear an ESD wrist strap or ESD gloves. For details, see 1 Safety Instructions.
Step 2 Take the spare hard disk out of its ESD bag.
Step 3 Fully open the ejector lever and push the hard disk into the hard disk enclosure
along the guide rails until the hard disk is in place. See step (1) in Figure 5-67.
