5.2.5 Removing a CPU
This topic describes how to remove a CPU.
● When E7 v2/v3 CPUs are congured, use HFCs whose BOM number is 03022JBN.
● When E7 v4 CPUs are congured, use HFCs whose BOM number is 03023URP.
● When replacing CPUs of dierent platforms, ensure that new CPUs are compatible with
other components of the server. For details, use the Intelligent Computing
Compatibility Checker.

● Only the personnel authorized by Huawei and Huawei technical support can
remove a CPU from a Huawei server.
● Do not wear ESD gloves during CPU replacement. The gloves may catch on pins
on the CPU socket and damage it.
