Operation
Heated Endgates
The heated endgate is an
added option for the 815HD
screed (electric heat only).
This also heats the edge of
the endgate, producing a
smoother joint as you pave.
(Figure 4-74) With the
heated endgate option(s), ad-
ditional switches are function-
al on the electric heat control
box. (Without this option, the
switch does not function.)

To operate the heated endgates:
1. Start the paver and idle until the engine reaches
normal operating temperature.
2. Raise the screed plate one or two inches off the
ground.
3. Turn the electric heat control box power ON.
4. Press the Start Heat button. The HEAT ON indicator
light will illuminate and stay on as long as the
element is heating (approximately 20 minutes).
5. Turn the left or right endgate switch up to the ON
position.
6. You can restart the cycle by repeating Step 4 if
needed.
Screed Sloping Extensions
The sloping extensions option provides the means of
matching curb and gutter to reduce handwork while
paving. (Figure 4-75) The hydraulic slope extensions
provide 0 - 8 percent slope.

Truck Hitch Attachment Option
The truck hitch is an optional attachment that prevents
excessive and uneven braking from the paving material
truck. (Figure 4-73)

To engage the hitch with the rear wheels of the asphalt
truck:
1. Use the Truck Hitch switch on the main control
panel to operate.
2. Extend the arm extensions of the truck hitch by
pushing and holding the Truck switch in the OUT
position.
3. The paving material truck then SLOWLY backs up to
the paver until the hitch makes contact with the rear
tires of the truck.
4. Retract the arm extension by pushing and holding
the Truck Hitch switch in the IN position until both
guide rollers are fully locked onto the truck wheel
rims.
NOTE: It may be necessary to adjust the roller guides
to the inside of the wheel rims.
NOTE: If equipped with both the truck hitch and
power crown options, a lever valve will be
installed on the front right of the paver to
select which option is active.
