Memorymirroredchannel
MemorymirroredchannelmodereplicatesandstoresdataontwopairsofDIMMswithintwochannels
simultaneously.
Ifafailureoccurs,thememorycontrollerswitchesfromtheprimarypairofmemoryDIMMstothebackup
pairofDIMMs.ToenablememorymirroredchannelthroughtheSetupUtility,selectSystemSettings➙
Memory.Formoreinformation,see“UsingtheSetupUtility”onpage52.Whenyouusethememory
mirroredchannelfeature,considerthefollowinginformation:
•Whenyouusememorymirroredchannel,youmustinstallapairofDIMMsatatime.ThetwoDIMMsin
eachpairmustbeidenticalinsize,type,andrank(single,dual,orquad),andorganization,butnotin
speed.ThechannelsrunatthespeedoftheslowestDIMMinanyofthechannels.
•Themaximumavailablememoryisreducedtohalfoftheinstalledmemorywhenmemorymirrored
channelisenabled.Forexample,ifyouinstall64GBofmemoryusingRDIMMs,only32GBof
addressablememoryisavailablewhenyouusememorymirroredchannel.
