Notes:
1.Whenyoureplacethesystemboard,youmusteitherupdatetheserverwiththelatestfirmwareor
restorethepre-existingfirmwarethatthecustomerprovidesonadisketteorCDimage.Makesurethat
youhavethelatestfirmwareoracopyofthepre-existingfirmwarebeforeyouproceed.
2.Whenyoureplacethesystemboard,makesurethatyouremovetheIntegratedManagementModule
AdvancedUpgradeandplaceitonthenewsystemboard.ForinformationabouttheAdvanced
Upgrade,see“Usingtheremotepresenceandblue-screencapturefeatures”onpage59
.
3.Beforeyoureplacethesystemboard,makesurethatyoubackupanyfeaturesondemand(FoD)keys
thatwereenabled.ReactivateanyFeaturesonDemandfeatures.Instructionsforautomatingthe
activationoffeaturesandinstallingactivationkeysisintheFeaturesonDemandUser'sGuide.To
downloadthedocument,gotohttps://fod.lenovo.com/lkms,login,andclickHelp.
Toremovethesystemboard,completethefollowingsteps:
Step1.Readthesafetyinformationthatbeginson“Safety”onpagev,“Handlingstatic-sensitivedevices”
onpage299,and“Installationguidelines”onpage297.
Step2.Turnofftheserverandanyattacheddevices.
Step3.Turnofftheperipheraldevicesanddisconnectallpowercords.
Note:Whenyoureplacethesystemboard,youmusteitherupdatetheserverwiththelatest
firmwareorrestorethepre-existingfirmwarethatthecustomerprovidesonadisketteorCD
image.Makesurethatyouhavethelatestfirmwareoracopyofthepre-existingfirmwarebefore
youproceed.
Step4.Pullthepowersuppliesoutoftherearoftheserver,justenoughtodisengagethemfromtheserver.
Step5.Removethetopcover(see“Removingthetopcover”onpage149).
Step6.RemoveallPCIriser-cardassembliesandadapters(see“Removingariser-cardassembly”on
