Usingtheremotepresenceandblue-screencapturefeatures
Theremotepresenceandblue-screencapturefeaturesareintegratedfunctionsoftheIMM2.
Theremotepresencefeatureprovidesthefollowingfunctions:
•Remotelyviewingvideowithgraphicsresolutionsupto1600x1200at75Hz,regardlessofthesystem
state
•Remotelyaccessingtheserver,usingthekeyboardandmousefromaremoteclient
•MappingtheCDorDVDdrive,diskettedrive,SDcard,andUSBflashdriveonaremoteclient,and
mappingISOanddisketteimagefilesasvirtualdrivesthatareavailableforusebytheserver
•UploadingadisketteimagetotheIMMmemoryandmappingittotheserverasavirtualdrive
Theblue-screencapturefeaturecapturesthevideodisplaycontentsbeforetheIMMrestartstheserverwhen
theIMMdetectsanoperating-systemhangcondition.Asystemadministratorcanusetheblue-screen
capturetoassistindeterminingthecauseofthehangcondition.
ObtainingtheIMMhostname
UsethisinformationtoobtaintheIMMhostname.
IfyouareloggingontotheIMMforthefirsttimeafterinstallation,theIMMdefaultstoDHCP.IfaDHCP
serverisnotavailable,theIMMusesastaticIPaddressof192.168.70.125.ThedefaultIPv4hostname
is“IMM-”(plusthelast12charactersontheIMMMACaddress).Thedefaulthostnamealsocomeson
theIMMnetworkaccesstagthatcomesattachedtothepowersupplyontherearoftheserver.TheIMM
networkaccesstagprovidesthedefaulthostnameoftheIMManddoesnotrequireyoutostarttheserver.
TheIPv6link-localaddress(LLA)isderivedfromtheIMMdefaulthostname.TheIMMLLAisontheIMM
networkaccesstagisonthepowersupplyontherearoftheserver.Toderivethelink-localaddress,
completethefollowingsteps:
Step1.Takethelast12charactersontheIMMMACaddress(forexample,5CF3FC5EAAD0).
Step2.Separatethenumberintopairsofhexadecimalcharacters(forexample,5C:F3:FC:5E:AA:D0).
Step3.Separatethefirstsixandlastsixhexadecimalcharacters.
Step4.Add“FF”and“FE”inthemiddleofthe12characters(forexample,5CF3FCFFFE5EAAD0).
Step5.Convertthefirstpairofhexadecimalcharacterstobinary(forexample,5=0101,C=1100,which
resultsin01011100F3FCFFFE5EAAD0).
Step6.Flipthe7thbinarycharacterfromleft(0to1or1to0),whichresultsin01011110F3FFFE5EAAD0.
Step7.Convertthebinarybacktohexadecimal(forexample,5EF3FCFFFE5EAAD0).

UsethisinformationtoobtaintheIPaddressfortheIMM.
Toaccessthewebinterfacetousetheremotepresencefeature,youneedtheIPaddressorhostnameofthe
IMM.YoucanobtaintheIMMIPaddressthroughtheSetupUtilityandyoucanobtaintheIMMhostname
fromtheIMMnetworkaccesstag.TheservercomeswithadefaultIPaddressfortheIMMof192.168.70.125.
