Photocell and Photocell Levels
Photocells have a variety of uses and applications but most can be broken down into
two categories: simple on/off control and the more complex daylight harvesting. Your
Z-MAX cabinet is capable of doing both. To connect photocells to your relay cabinet,
please see the installation chapter which addresses the installation of a photocell with
the cabinet. This section will walk you only through the configuration aspects of
photocell operation. Additionally, you may find it helpful to review the sidebar
information on this page which addresses both background information on photocell
operation and daylight harvesting. Configuration of your Z-MAX cabinet for use with
photocells assumes that you’re already comfortable with both topics.
Photocells operate in one of three modes, these modes define the characteristics of
how photocell operation interacts with the relay panel. It’s crucial to understand the
three modes prior to commencing programming to ensure that the desired result is
achieved. The three modes are as follows:
• Relinquish / Force Off
• Force On / Force Off
• Force On / Relinquish
