DDM-2000 OC-3 MULTIPLEXER
Upgrade DDM-2000 OC-3 Add/Drop Network to
Path Switched Ring
DO ITEMS BELOW IN ORDER LISTED . . . . .FOR DETAILS, GO TO
1.
!
CAUTION:
Three STS-1 channels or 84 VT1.5 channels is the
maximum capacity for an OC-3 ring. Before this upgrade is
performed, you should verify that there is enough capacity in
theringtocarry
ALL CO sourced
channels plus
ALL added
channels coming into the network at any RT.
!
CAUTION:
Ring configurations support 84 timeslots within the ring. A
timeslot used for one signal (VT1.5/STS-1) cannot be reused
at another location. Before upgrading from a linear system to
a ring system, verify that no duplicate timeslot assignments
exist. For example in Figure 1 on page 6, if timeslot
m-1-1-1
is dropped at Node 2, verify that the same timeslot is not
dropped at another node. If duplicates exist, [for example, if
timeslot
m-1-1-1
is dropped at Node 2;
m-1-1-2
is
cross-connected to
c-1-1-1
(instead of
c-1-1-2
)atNode2;
and then
m-1-1-1
is dropped at Node 3, then you have
duplicate (
m-1-1-1
) timeslot assignments] you must
rearrange your timeslot assignments to accommodate the
new ring configuration.
!
CAUTION:
This procedure requires
22-Type OLIU
circuit packs in all
shelves. If existing
OLIU
s will be replaced in this procedure
[DLP-542]
, you must determine if the
22-Type OLIU
s will
support the existing span length. For example,
22F/22F-U/22F2-U OLIU
circuit packs will not support span
lengths as long as
21G/21G-U/21G2-U/21G3-U OLIU
circuit
packs will support. Optical line power measurements and/or
office records must be used to verify that the existing span
length can be supported.
