Perform DS3 Transmission Test
Dual Ring Interconnection
Overview: This procedure is performed on one or more out-of-service circuits to test
the dual ring interconnections (DRI) from a DDM-2000 ring network to another
DDM-2000 ring network or to an FT-2000 ring network. Numerous configurations are
possible when interconnecting DDM-2000 networks. Therefore, this procedure
provides you with typical examples and explanations of some of the possible
configurations and instructs you on the procedures used in testing these
configurations.
1.
NOTE:
This procedure may be used to perform DS3 transmission tests for a Dual
Ring Interconnection (DRI) between DDM-2000 networks and FT-2000
ring networks. When this procedure is being used to perform end-to-end
DS3 tests, it is assumed that the complete end-to-end systems have
already been tested and that only a particular DS3 channel is being
tested at this time.
NOTE:
A CIT is required for this test to make/verify cross-connections and to
switch paths of the DS3 being tested. The transmission test can be
performed either with a CIT and the automated test command
test-trmsn-t3: or with a DS3 test set.
NOTE:
The DS3 circuit being tested is assumed to originate at equipment
external to the DDM-2000 source node and is carried around the
DDM-2000 ring to the dual ring interconnection nodes where it is
connected to the corresponding DDM-2000 DRI nodes or to the primary
and secondary FT-2000 DRI nodes. The DS3 is then carried around the
next ring network to the final destination node where it is terminated on
external equipment. If more than two rings are interconnected, the DS3
signal may be passed through another set of DRI nodes.
