5.3 MACHINE TRAVELLING M A E D A Crawler Crane
5-12 5/2020 CC1908S-1
5.3.1.3 PERMISSIBLE WATER DEPTH
CAUTION
If the machine is tilted upward at a steep
angle of 15 degrees or more when it is being
driven out of water, the rear of the upper
slewing body may become submerged in the
water, causing damage to the engine fan if it
stirs up water. Pay careful attention when
travelling the machine out of water.
Use this machine in water not deeper than the
centre of the upper carrier roller (1).
Thoroughly grease the lubrication points that
have been submerged in water for a long time
until the old grease is pushed out.
5.3.1.4 PRECAUTIONS WHEN
TRAVELLING ON SLOPES
WARNING
• Be careful of toppling and slipping when
travelling on slopes.
• When the machine is inclined at 15 degrees
or more when travelling on a slope, the
inclination alarm activates and the buzzer
sounds. The machine is capable of
travelling on slopes of up to 20 degrees, but
it is liable to become unstable on slopes of
more than 15 degrees. If the buzzer sounds,
stop travelling any further, move to a safe
location, and take a different route.
• When travelling on inclines, be sure to use
the travelling posture with the hook block
stowed in the normal stowage position at
the front of the upper slewing body. The
boom tip simple stowage position may
result in the hook block becoming loose
while travelling. For details on the machine
travelling posture, refer to "5.3.2 MACHINE
TRAVELLING POSTURE" on P. 5-15.
• On inclines of 10 degrees or more, reverse
uphill and travel forward downhill. Always
travel so that the front of the machine faces
the downhill side. If the machine is driven
forward uphill or reversed downhill, there is
a danger of it becoming unstable, toppling
or slipping sideways.
• When travelling on a slope, drive the
machine perpendicular to the incline and
never change direction or travel
transversely. Travel safely, for instance by
travelling back down to level ground and
taking an alternate route.
