M A E D A Crawler Crane 5.9 FLY JIB (OPTION)
5/2020 CC1908S-1 5-59
FLY JIB (OPTION)
USAGE PRECAUTIONS
WARNING
To attach the fly jib to the body, or to
remove it, the moment limiter settings must
also be changed, so please contact our
sales service agency. If you use the
machine without changing the moment
limiter settings, there is a risk of serious
accident, including machine damage or
toppling.
The fly jib is attached to the main boom with
four position pins. The angle of the fly jib is
adjusted by the derricking cylinder and the
wire rope. If the wire rope is faulty due to
damage or incorrect maintenance, the fly jib
may fall, resulting in a serious accident.
When mounting the fly jib, be sure to
disconnect the electric wires from the
overwinding detector on the main boom
side and reconnect them to the fly jib side. If
the wires are not connected correctly, the
moment limiter or overwinding detector will
not function properly, resulting in a serious
accident.
When using the fly jib, be sure to check that
the actual number of fly jib boom sections
and the displayed number of fly jib boom
sections on the moment limiter are the
same before starting work. Serious
accidents such as damage to the fly jib or
machine toppling may otherwise occur.
When using the fly jib, be sure to set the
engine to low idle and operate the crane at
dead slow speed. If you operate levers
suddenly, there is a risk of damage to the fly
jib due to excessive force, resulting in a
serious accident.
If you operate the fly jib incorrectly, there is
a risk of the fly jib falling due to bracket
deformation or cracking on the welded
section. Be sure to check each part of the
fly jib and make sure there is no
deformation or cracking on the welded
section before starting work.
The fly jib is attached and stowed to the
side surface of the main boom with two
position pins. Check that both of the
position pins are correctly inserted and
securely fastened by linchpins before
moving. If the position pins detach, the fly
jib may fall, resulting in a serious accident.
When stowing the fly jib, be sure to
disconnect the electric wires on the fly jib
side and reconnect them to the overwinding
detector on the main boom side beforehand.
If the wires are not connected correctly, the
moment limiter or overwinding detector will
not function properly, resulting in a serious
accident.
The side plate will deteriorate over time and
become deformed due to moisture
absorption. If it becomes deformed, adjust
the bolt clamping position in the slot to
maintain it parallel to the metal surface. It
should be replaced if it becomes
excessively deformed or if the sliding
surface becomes roughened.
For details on other precautions not
described here, refer to "Chapter 2
SAFETY".
