PARTICULATE FILTER)
REGENERATION
CAUTION
Be sure to use the specified fuel and engine
oil to ensure that the DPG functions correctly.
For details on the fuel used, refer to "6.5.1
USE OF FUEL AND LUBRICATING OIL
DEPENDING ON TEMPERATURE" on P. 6-11.
DPF REGENERATION
DANGER
Be careful of the following during DPF
regeneration:
Due to the burning/removal process, the
temperature of the exhaust gas rises to
about 600 °C. Do not touch or stand close to
the DPF muffler, exhaust pipe, or exhaust
gas, as there is a danger of burn injuries.
Close the machinery cover, and do not place
objects near the DPF muffler or exhaust pipe.
Otherwise, there is a danger of fire.
There is a danger of carbon monoxide
poisoning, so do not carry out DPF
regeneration in places with poor ventilation.
Regeneration should normally be performed
outdoors.
As the exhaust gas is being cleaned, the
smell of the exhaust gas will differ from
normal.
As PM (particulate matter) builds up on the filter
inside the DPF, the filter becomes clogged,
reducing engine performance.
The regeneration process is therefore necessary
to burn/remove the PM by raising the exhaust
temperature.
The regeneration process can be carried out
automatically or manually.
