WIRE ROPE REPLACEMENT
CRITERIA
IMPORTANT
• The criteria for replacing wire rope apply to
all the wire ropes used for winching,
telescoping the boom, and slinging.
• Measure the diameter of the wire rope at
points where the wire repeatedly runs
through the sheave. A mean value needs to
be determined from measurements in three
directions.
• Do not use old wire rope even if it has not
been used.
• For details on wire rope replacement, refer
to "6.18.1.4 WINCH WIRE ROPE
REPLACEMENT" on P. 6-79.
• Contact us or our sales service agency for
wire rope replacement or repair.

conditions apply:
1. If the number of broken wires is equal to or
greater than the following ratio with respect to
the total number of elemental wires in the
outermost strands (excluding filler wires):
• 10 % or more over a single twist of rope.
However, if breakage occurs in a single
strand only, the ratio should be 5 % or
more.
